Spencer B. Beebe is the President and founder of EcoTrust, an organization dedicated to bringing some of the good ideas emerging around sustainability back to the rain forests of The Pacific Northwest. He spent fourteen years with the Nature Conservancy before helping found Conservation International in 1987. Spencer spent his youth in Oregon flyfishing, camping and practicing falconry, which led to a lifetime commitment to wilderness and conservation. He's devoted his professional career to building organizational capacity and exploring new strategies for conservation. He has played a key role in the creation and development of over 30 organizations and programs—from Alaska to Bolivia—including helping to pioneer innovative approaches such as "debt for nature" swaps in developing tropical rain forest countries. He co-founded Shorebank Pacific, the first environment bank in the Pacific Northwest. He was founding President of Conservation International and has served as President of The Nature Conservancy International.
