Mayor Tom Hughes was born in Hillsboro, Oregon, and educated in the Hillsboro school system. He received his BS in History from the University of Oregon in 1965. He then attended the University of Arizona and earned an MA in History. The Mayor belongs to the Hillsboro Rotary and the Hillsboro Chamber of Commerce. He also serves on the Boards of the Washington County Community Action Organization, Hillsboro Hospital Authority, Virginia Garcia Memorial Foundation, Oregon Economic Development District and Westside Economic Alliance. He was appointed to the League of Oregon Cities Board of Directors and serves on the National League of Cities Finance, Administration, Insurance and Revenue Committee.
