Speaker Joe Poire

Joe Poire is the Executive Director of the Port of Whitman County in the state of Washington. He works directly with the Port Commission on policy setting and strategic planning issues and is responsible for implementing commission policy. Joe is in the leadership role for planning and implementation of state and federal lobbying efforts for the Port district. Joe brings extensive business experience to the port both in the public and private sectors. He has successfully operated companies and has been responsible for developing business opportunities, capital fund raising, and design and operation of telecommunications network systems. He has been a majority stockholder in three telecommunications companies in broadband distribution and product design in rural areas.

Joe's public work history includes working for Washington State University, Department of Radio and Television services as well as teaching adjunct for the Murrow School of Communications. As a citizen Joe has served on a working group with Senator Patty Murray. This group worked on rural technology infrastructure providing wording of the Community Telecommunications Planning Act. Joe also worked at the state level on a bill enabling ports to work in the telecommunications industry.
