Speaker Klaus Wurpts

Klaus Wurpts is the Business Director of the Industrial Initiative for Central Germany. He also is the project leader of the clustering process in Central Germant (Mitteldeutschland), a region that encompasses parts of three federal states. Prior to that, he worked as a scientific assistant, as well as being a freelance author and journalist.

Founded in 2000, the Industrial Initiative for Central Germany (IICG) is a private initiative established with the goal of raising the national and international profile of Central Germany. IICG's activities aim to promote cooperation among businesses scientific organizations and administrations across the three federal states of Central Germany. IICG's main focus is in the coordination and moderation of clustering activities, especially in the branches of the automotive industry, life sciences, chemistry/plastics, as well as in the food sector. IICG develops projects to provide sustainable increases in innovation and competitiveness. One major project is an innovation award that invites only applicants from clusters to participate.

Klaus has a degree in political sciences from the University of Leipzig in Germany and from Sciences Politiques Paris.
